When you pinch the disc in the middle to insert it, its width is similar to a regular tampon.

It sits comfortably in the vaginal fornix, deep in the vaginal canal, just below the cervix, where it collects your flow.

How to choose the right size?

The best guide is the height of your cervix.

• If your cervix sits low, we recommend femdisc Small.

How to feel your cervix yourself:

Try to locate it by inserting a clean finger into your vagina.

The cervix sits right at the top: a small, round, smooth, slightly firm area — often described as feeling like pinched lips.

If it's hard to reach, try squatting — it makes access easier.

If you can't reach it or it's more than 5.5 cm deep, you most likely have a high cervix.

This can shift the disc slightly, letting excess blood drain into the toilet — without removing it.

How does auto-emptying work?

For some, it happens every time they go to the toilet.

For others, only on heavier-flow days.

And for some… never. Every body is different!

If you're one of those who can do it, it's a real perk — a feature unique to menstrual discs, absent in tampons and cups.

But… how do you do it?

Sitting on the toilet, bear down gently (as if going to the bathroom).

This slides the disc slightly, releasing some blood into the toilet.

No worries: once you're done, the disc often settles back on its own, thanks to the shape of your vagina and natural pressure.

You can also do 1–2 pelvic-floor squeezes (Kegels) to help it re-seat.

Why does the disc stay put the rest of the time?

When it's seated well, femdisc settles into the vaginal fornix and hooks behind your pubic bone.

During your period:

It's important to remove, empty and clean your femdisc at least every 12 hours.

1. Wash your hands well
   
2. Rinse your femdisc first with cold water → this helps prevent stains and odor
   
3. Then switch to warm water with a little mild soap or intimate wash
   
4. Massage the whole surface, including both sides of the rim
   
5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water
   
6. Wipe it or let it air-dry before reinserting
   

Between cycles:

• Wait until your femdisc is completely dry before storing it
  
• Keep it in the breathable pouch provided, in a cool, dry place
  
• ❌ Never store it in an airtight container (closed box, jar or sealed plastic case)
  

Monthly sterilizing:

With the sterilizer (recommended)

1. Fill the sterilizer with water
   
2. If your water is hard, add a few drops of white vinegar
   
3. Microwave it for 4 minutes
   
4. Then place your femdisc in the hot water for 5–10 minutes
   
   ➡️ And it's ready.
   

With a pot:

1. Bring water to a boil in a clean pot
   
2. Submerge the femdisc for 10 minutes
   
3. Watch it and stir gently so it doesn't touch the sides or bottom (that could damage the silicone)
   
4. Remove it, let it cool completely and dry it carefully before storing
   

If you have a vaginal infection:

• Never wear your femdisc if you have a yeast or bacterial infection
  
• Wait until you're fully recovered before using it again
  
• If you used your femdisc during an infection:
  
  → Discard it immediately
  
  → ❌ Don't try to clean or reuse it
